Various service areas in Kent Library provide specialized instruction and tours for classes at Southeast Missouri State University and its regional campuses. To schedule an instruction session or tour of a particular service area, please contact the following locations:
Special Collections and Archives: Special Collections and Archives offers detailed instruction for classes on archival literacy, historical research methods, and general tours of the archives and the Rare Book Room. Heather MacDonald Greene Multimedia Center: The Heather MacDonald Greene Multimedia Center on the third floor of Kent Library offers instruction both on-site and in the classroom. The Multimedia Center offers instruction on skills including 3D design and printing, graphic design, photo and video editing, audio production, and how to create engaging presentations. The services of the Multimedia Center are frequently used by speech communication classes, art and design classes, and many others. Instructional Materials Center: The Instructional Materials Center provides instruction for classes regarding its collection of fiction and nonfiction children and young adult literature, teaching and instructional materials, as well as instructional kits. Instruction sessions and tours can be beneficial for courses preparing future teachers, involving children’s literature, and exploring children’s books to use in therapy or for design ideas. Information Literacy Instruction: Library faculty teach information literacy sessions for Southeast classes and groups. Instruction is tailored to meet unique needs of specific class research assignments and information needs. Sessions can last entire class periods or be brief, focused instruction related to a particular resource or skill. To schedule an information literacy session or have customized materials created for your class or group, contact your department’s library faculty liaison.
